For what will probably be my last blog for this class, I thought I would reflect on what I have learned this summer. These are things I want to take back to my classroom.
1. Multimedia is more about student production that teacher delivery. Sure it my be great to have a great way to deliver information. Students may be more engaged in learning. But ultimately we need to provide students with a way to use the technology themselves.
2. The digital classroom represents the future. I don't know how long it will take me to go completely digital, but it is something I will strive for. I will still have paper in my classroom just less of it.
3. The new component of literacy. Students need to truly understand the technology around them. Many have an extensive knowledge of technology, but it is not a very deep knowledge. We need to give students an opportunity to be consumers of knowledge and information. Students need to know how to recognize the good and the bad in the online world. Students need to be creators of knowledge. We must give students an opportunity to develop this new dimension.

Throwing My Lists Away
All summer I have been ruled by lists. Each day I had tasks I had to accomplish. I am down to only two more assignments -- the two final exams. I probably should add studying to the last list
Ironically I may need to start new lists for the two weeks I have before I start back to work. The new growing list includes the growing grass in my yard. A combination of rain and the two weeks since I mowed will make this a tough job. There are a few movies I have wanted to see but didn't have the time to go see.
Yesterday I found out the school district is getting a new website and program. Apparently this was mentioned in the spring, but I don't remember it. It would have been nice if these were in July. I could have used it in my website assignment. So building a new website will be something I need to work on at the beginning of the year. I still have some things I need to do before school starts.
After the exams, movies, and yard, I'll get started on those.
